Hello, my name is Barry Thomas. After dropping some fairly HEAVY hints I received a scrollsaw for Christmas 1998. Initially, I started making name plates and small wooden toys but soon my interests and skills in woodworking increased and I decided to make more elaborate projects. A lot of my early scrollsawing came from the late Patrick Spielman, Dirk Boelman and the humorous Winfield Collection.
With the advent of the Internet it is now so easy to buy scrollsaw books, patterns and plans from a wide variety of sources. There are also email scrolling forums and chat rooms so you can 'talk' with fellow craftsmen.
In August 2003 my wife and I had the opportunity to visit our friends Joe and Sarah Diveley and attend Joe's Mid-West Scrollsaw Picnic at Pontiac, Illinois, USA. It was a very successful show and we also had the opportunity to meet lots of old friends and make many new ones.
